About Me: I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Sam Houston State University in December of 2004. Soon after, acquiring my certification from the state. I have worked with children most of my adult life through coaching and teaching. I am not only a Language Arts teacher at Mccullough, but I coach Football and track as well. I think the most important thing about education is finding what makes each individual student shine and allowing that light to burn as bright as it can. My philosophy can be applied from the classroom to the playing field. We all learn differently, but together, with a little hard work, we can get the best out of each and every student

Planners
Every Student at McCullough will be using a planner. It is essential that students keep their planner updated daily, as all subjects will be quizzing weekly to ensure students are keeping careful track of assignments and due dates. Therefore students should keep their planners with them at all times. This will be a great way for parents to stay aware of what is going on in classes and to help students be prepared.

Absences:
If you were absent, you need to check the absent binder for information and assignments that you may have missed. If you have been absent, it is your responsibility to check the folders and ask questions in order to get caught up. It is not the teacher's responsibility to track you down to collect your work.

Please visit this page often as I will try to keep you informed of the activities in the class and also advise you of events and other information.

The Class links at left will help you navigate through the various pages in my website and the other links are important school and district pages.

Disclaimer
1.  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check the absence binder upon your return. What I say in class overrides everything on this website! Not all assignments are posted. Extracurricular activities should NEVER be an excuse for incomplete assignments. Those activities are extra, meaning school work is the priority.

2.  I usually update my website once or twice a week, and not always on the same day. The assignments and due dates I have posted are a GUIDELINE, not an absolute. I will adjust the pace and content of my weekly curriculum as needed to meet the needs of my students. Students are responsible for copying down the planner information daily in order to have the most updated information.

3. What this website IS:  Another great source for information about classwork, daily assignments, homework, tests and long-term projects. It is to be used in conjunction with the planner.

4. What this website IS NOT: A replacement for...
          -paying attention in class
-listening to oral directions on how assignments are to be completed
-copying down assignments into the planner.

Tutoring:
1. My tutoring: Mornings, after football season, at 8:05, and during advisory. Students that come during advisory need to get a pass from me. It is best if students let me know they plan on coming in for tutorials. I sometimes have meetings before school that prevent me from being in my class room.

2. PAWS tutoring meets every Tuesday-Thursday in the downstairs library from 4:00-4:45. Students from TWHS Interact group volunteer their time as tutors to assist McCullough students. Bus transportation will not be provided. More information is available at: http://mccullough.conroeisd.net/Teachers/jdmurrin/PAWS

3. SPARKS advisory tutoring is available daily. Students must ask for a pass. http://mccullough.conroeisd.net/Teachers/dmeyer/SPARKS
